Lieve van Loon
Multidisciplinary Artist
Lieve van Loon (2002) works from her fascination with everyday scenes and objects. She uses her own visual language to give them their own character or personality. She explores her fascinations using various materials and techniques, such as pencil drawings, stained glass, prints, and oil paint. Lieve does this by reproducing an object or scene many times, each time in a slightly different way, emphasizing their form, line, color, and composition. In this way, her fascination becomes visible in the image.
Rescaling, adding color, and taking an object out of its context create new and surprising images that give her audience the space to reflect on the work and relate to it. In this way, she reintroduces the viewer to the everyday things around us.
