Evanne Stiekema
Visual Artist & Educator
Evanne Stiekema (1998) her work moves between doing and allowing. Minimal materials and simple, repeated actions create images in which texture, rhythm and the physical process remain visible. Through repetitions Evanne tries to find a way to deal with perfectionism and control and to allow the unexpected to happen. The works invite stillness, focused observation, and wandering through subtle shifts. Her practice is about exploring pedagogical issues such as resistance, slowing down, and the value of reflection. Working with minimal means
creates not only an image, but a space where thinking, feeling, and creating meet.
